My Counselling Service

I offer counselling for a wide variety of issues such as : depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties (including coping with separation, infidelity & domestic violence), also trauma, parenting issues, loss and bereavement.  I also offer counselling by phone and online, using Skype or Zoom.

Our first session will be a chance to say hello and to make sure that we are comfortable working together.  Then, if you're happy to go ahead and I feel I am able to meet your needs, we will arrange a course of subsequent sessions.

Our sessions will give you the opportunity to talk about your thoughts and feelings and to explore why you're feeling the way you do, so you can start to make sense of things and feel better.

I provide you with a safe environment and enough time to say exactly what you need to say. The work is confidential, you will be free from judgement and criticism and you can speak openly without fear of upsetting or hurting anyone.

The time we have will be your time - I will be there with you, to support you, listening and responding objectively and with empathy.

Sessions are at a regular time each week, throughout the duration of our time working together and they run for a full hour.  The photo above is taken from The Counseliing Cabin, my own purpose built premises, in Chelmsford, Essex - check out the 'Gallery', from the tool bar above, for more pics!

If you can't physically get to a face to face session, for whatever reason, I can offer counselling on-line, using the video conferencing apps Zoom or Skype (which you can download for free), I also offer telephone counselling.  Sessions work in the same way, in that we have a regular hour long slot each week throughout the time we are working together.

I offer both short term and more long term, or open ended, counselling.  There is no need to decide right away which to choose, we would review our work together as we go along.

Our sessions will be interactive, I won't sit in silence, I don't believe that to be helpful.  I also strongly believe that we are all individuals, there is no one size fits all approach to counselling; so I work in an integrative way, this means that I am able to draw from a number of different approaches and theories* to tailor our sessions to meet your own individual needs.

* I typically work with one or more of the following approaches: Pshycodyanamic, Transactional Analysis, Person Centred, CBT, Systemic (family systems & dynamics) and Mindfulness - but no matter which theory I draw from, my view is that it's the relationship between client and counsellor that matters most!
